Canvasback Miniature Pair - Horace L. Crandall
Content pair of miniature Canvasback ducks carved by Horace (Hie) Lewis Crandall (1892-1969) c.1968.
Born and raised in Ashaway, Rhode Island, Crandall left for California in his mid-twenties, where he continued the tradition of King and Gibbs, carving decoys and miniatures. Finely carved bodies with glass eyes, carved bills, primaries and tail feathers. Hand-crafted metal feet and legs. Signed "H.L. Crandall" on the front of the driftwood base, and on a paper label on the bottom.
