Slightly oversize, plump minaiture Wood Duck drake on an unusual bark base by Elmer Crowell c.1940. Feet were painstakenly painted ontop of the rough bark surface. Unique example that may have been made specifically for this family.
Exceptional provenance having come directly from a family home in Boston that once Summered on Cape Cod near Elmer Crowell. Signed by maker 'Elmer Crowell Cape Cod, Mass'. In the family writing, it is dated 1940, and also written is 'died Jan 1952'
