Rare Compteition Mallard Pair
Leo H. McIntosh (1953-2007)
Adams, NY, c. 1990's
Drake - 16.25"
Hen - 15"

Rare personal competition pair with the only known sleeping mallard hen.  From a rig of 6 mallards that Leo made for his own personal competing, this pair was picked directly out of Preston Lowes collection representing the rarest mallard hen and the nicest drake of the lot.

Decoys Leo made for his own competing are hard enough to find.  The pair is different from others in his 'compeition style' because they were never branded per competition rules.  And are marked all over the bottom and keel with different weight attachment marks from where Leo attempted to achieve the perfect float in the pool.

The pair are solid bodied and are painted exceptionally in Leo's competing life-like paint patterns.  The Hen bears bold 'scratch' feather painting.  A feature only seen on the hens in the Preston Lowe rig.

Condition:  Very good with minimal 'working' wear from competition use.

Provenance:

Preston Lowe
Private Collection acquired direct from above
