1/3 Size Rare Flying Pheasant
James Lapham(1909-1987)
Dennisport, MA c.1960's
12.5" long
Rare and vibrant wall flying Pheasant for this maker. Believed to be a specially carved peice due to the now illegible note written under one of the wings. Outstretched wing tips with a long relief carved tail as well as two crests on the head. Signed by maker on back.
Condition: Original with some paint rubs to tips as well as a small spot on the top of the tail. Tiny chip to wing tip, unnoticeable on front side. Covered with fine white paint droplets.
*We've found this white paint phenomenon common with many New England miniatures. There was a long duration of time where these were nice, not really valuable, pieces of home decor. When the interior needed a fresh white coat, they didn't always get moved to a safe space and in turn bear this historic hallmark to their region.
